1 year

On the morning of July 23, 2005 I left Kuwait heading to the United States of America to continue my studies, following a feist with my closest friends and relatives. I was very sad for leaving my friends, and family, behind, yet very happy knowing that this trip was going to make them all proud. I left with a smile, with a life, full of hope and love; thinking that the U S and A will bring me the happiness I have always dreamt of. Little that I know, I was going there to embark on "The Great Depression" of my life.

I wrote for two hours. I erased what I wrote and kept this opening statement. I think it will do.

This is a Review I posted at Imdb.com a year ago for this critically acclaimed movie :

A True Masterpiece, 8 July 2005

Author: DonZ from Kuwait

The Deer Hunter is one of the best movies that ever came out of Hollywood, Michael Cimino does an Outstanding job Directing, his Best Director Oscar was not even enough. Robert De Niro, my favorite actor of all time, has Portrayed his character with so much intensity your emotions are just rushing through till the end of the movie.

The story is about 3 Friends Michael (Robert De Niro), Nick (Christopher Walken) and Steve (John Savage) living in a steel town in Pennsylvania who went to Vietnam to support their country. They play their roles so well and are immensed in their roles to make the brilliant Masterpiece Accurate in many ways. The Music is very touching and very emotionable(Cavatina)that at the end Credits you just go with the flow and just think about the effect of the movie. Robert De Niro got an Oscar Nomination for Best Actor for his role as Michael and Christopher Walken got the Best Supporting Oscar for his incredible part as Nick.

This Masterpiece talks about the effect of Vietnam on three Civilians who are very normal and enjoy life as it is as we see in the beginning. There are not enough words that I can speak of this masterpiece. It was Michael Cimino's Biggest hit, although his second movie was a flop, but this movie made the second one watchable !

f You haven't Seen this movie You have no Idea how you are so lucky because I would give anything to see it for the first time again, It is so challenging emotionally and mentally. Michael Cimino at his BEST EVER, Robert De Niro at his most Demanding role, Christopher Walken at his First big hit and Oscar, John Savage proves himself worthy of being called a great actor and John Cazale's Last movie before his Death .. One of the very few Masterpieces Hollywood has ever done .. See this movie and pray for me.

First Official Post

I've been in the blogger community for a while now, surfing and reading blogs on a daily basis. I really enjoyed it for a year or so but then there it hit me .. why wouldn't I start a new blog ? it's not that hard to do, and well, it may be interesting. So here I am with my first "official" post and I thought of introducing myself in a formal way .. just to get everything straitghtened out.

Who are you ?

I'm a Kuwaiti citizen studying in the United States, I am a sophomore at the moment and it's been nearly a year now since I've left Kuwait. I didn't have the chance to get back home yet, but I'm intending to do so in the upcoming Christmas of 2006.

So .. Do I miss Kuwait ? Like you wouldn't believe.

DonZz ? What's that all about ?

Originally, I wanted "Donz" as a nickname but, unfortunately, I couldn't find it. Donz is supposed to be related with the Mafia (huge mafia fan btw), the plurarl of "Don" is "Dons" but the "z" at the end is just to make it seem a bit more modern. There's also a rims company called "Donz" which basically was the inspiration for the nickname.

What was the thing that attached you into the blogging community ?

Kuwaiti Politics.

Why do you think people should care about this blog ?

I don't think people should care about this blog, it's not anything special .. it's just something I can enjoy my spare time with. A way where I can express my thoughts freely, and a way where I can try to dictate my everyday life through. This blog is simply, something that hopefully will keep me occupied while I'm far away from home. I joined the blogging community just to enjoy myself with the other bloggers. I mean no harm and I come in peace.

Do you have any close friends who operate their own blogs ?

Unfortunately, I do not. I wish to make friends though.

What are your hobbies ? (keep it short)

- I am a huge movie buff. I love movies and I love loving movies. Movies are my life. My life is a movie.

- Internet I guess is a hobby, or is it ?

- I also enjoy road trips, but hey who doesn't ? .. BUT, the twist is .. I enjoy road trips alone. I really do, I enjoy driving for hours and hours just alone, with a pack of red Marlboro's .. 3 Instrumental CD's, 1 Muhammad Abu CD and an energy drink. The last roadtip I "embarked" on was to Los Angeles, two weeks ago. I loved it, the I-10 was absolutely wonderful.

Any place you really want to go to ?

Yes ! I recently got so attached to the idea of going to THE "Cafe Del Mar" in San Antonio, Ibiza. Being that I'm a huge fan of the Music Selections, the idea of watching the sunset while listening to the most chilling music ever was just crazy.

Have you ever been refused admission to the U.S., or been the subject of a deportation hearing or sought to obtain or assist others to obtain a visa, entry into the U.S., or any other U.S. immigration benefit by fraud or willful misrepresentation or other unlawful means?

No :x

PS: Don't judge a book by it's cover, so see me as a book .. and see my posts as a cover. I'm not just that. I'm much more .. trust me, will ya ?

skipped first class.

watched the first half of the game.

went to my midterm, did good.

ordered Chinese.

I wait for comments.
